CS: Tell me more about your dining table. I love how you've left part of it with natural wood while the middle slats are painted green.
CR: Jonathan's parents bought it 30 years ago (at which point it was already an antique). We decided to try and strip the top down, which went OK until we got to the leaves. They were made with a different, cheaper wood and looked awful, so, even though everyone thought I was crazy, I painted them! I was convinced the finished product would be great, and I was right! I love the two tone, so much so that the leaves are painted a slightly different shade! Two are a light, leaf green, while one is a slightly darker green and is sandwiched between. The chairs were in pretty poor condition, so we kept five, painted the same green, and replaced the rest.
