How Much Would You Spend on a Candle?

The prices of my beloved Diptyque candles have skyrocketed since I first came across them in Paris 10 years ago; a candle that burns for 40 hours now sells for at least $60. Some of my pals think it's absurd that I would even consider buying one, while others have a worse habit than me. Call me a snob, but I think the scintillating scent is totally worth it. What's your cut-off point when shopping for candles?

i wouldn't spend more than $25 unless it was, like, an epic awesome candle with like 16 wicks or something. the most expensive i usually go is for the brand VOLUSPA, which is really amazing. try 'em out. i get mine at anthropologie but they are becomign way more common.

Parafin wax, lead free wick, & they only use natural fragrance (absolutely no synthetic), burns 60 hours! WOW! Where can I get the best deal on one? :-D Note: you'd pay $10 for a 10+hour soy candle with same features, so what's $60 for a 60-hour? Most people don't want to spend that much at a time & like to switch scents. Just make sure you LOVE the scent!

You all are paying way too much for a high quality candle. Check out Village Candle; Spring Lilac is to die for! Take it from a former Yankee die hard, this is a much better candle for a reasonable price! Those $10 candles will kill your lungs, and they burn up so fast. Village Candle's 26 oz. jar for about $17 or 11 oz. jar for about $10 is a great deal. LONG burn time and SO much fragrance. Try them

When it comes to candles you get what you pay for, I would rather spend a bit more for a really good candle.

$25 max but ideally less. I don't like cheap smelling candles so I will pay a bit more but I think you can definitely find a nice candle for $20-25

at this point in my life i don't spend more than $10 - i usually stock up at the white barn semi-annual sale. but i also am not a big candle burner so they're not a huge priority. maybe one day when i have my own place and a full time job i'll invest in better quality candles, but right now i'd rather spend my money on other things haha.

I almost bought a $15 candle at Anthropologie this weekend because the smell was to die for (I could tell b/c they had one burning) but I stopped myself. Maybe when I can afford to splurge a bit more.

There is a place called Root Candles in my hometown (Medina, OH). They are my favorite candles by far. I stock up whenever I can.

My special treat for a candle is from www.nadurorganics.ie - they are just divine!. And as well as that - they're made in Ireland, 100% natural organic ingredients - so I figure they're really good to have in your home. They burn for 40 hours too.

check out www.jenlewdesigns.com candles.. they're soy which is better and smell amazing for a long time..and totally worth the price because they look great and have a handy matchbox attached. they're all handmade too so it's like art in a way..

I hate scented candles. Maybe b/c I would never spend more than $10 on a candle!! I think with my current budget, I'm better off NOT knowing what I'm missing. I'd rather spend the cash on plants.

I'm usually a cheapskate, but I will totally spend $60 for a Diptyque candle. I live in a loft space with very high ceilings, and I haven't found any other candle that actually manages to fragrance my home. Plus, they really do last a long time because you don't have to burn them long to get a strong fragrance. I'm a sucker for Baies in the summer and Feu de Bois or Figuier in the winter!

I love candles, but my boyfriend is picky about smells... We went into Illuminations at Downtown Disney, and found "The Most Wonderful.. Cinnamon" candle. The two wick one was like $20, which I thought was a bit expensive, but it lasted for a while! (the site says 100 hours, but I think it was probably closer to 60) I was glad to pick some up on sale though (4 should last me a while, I think!) But seriously, the house smells wonderful with them burning...

Ooh yes, another fave is the Capri Blue Aloha Orchid ($28) which burns for 100 hours and is available at Anthropologie. I agree Shannoninsf, once you spend, you can never go back.

There's one Anthropologie candle that I adore, and I'll spend more on it (I think it's currently about $30 for the size I like), but mostly I'm pretty cheap. I'm also a wax tart gal, and those tend to run cheaper anyway.
