Wedding season is in full swing, and I have so many bridal showers, bachelorette parties, and wedding weekends on my calendar, I doubt I have any single friends left! That said, I've got plenty of gifts on my shopping list. So where do I start?
Shopping from the bride and groom's wedding registry is preferred, and expected. The couple chose each gift for a reason, so this way there will be no surprises — and no returns. People usually register with at least two or three different stores, including major department stores.
Following proper etiquette, an invitation should never, ever mention wedding registry details. It's usually the duty of the maid of honor and the mother of the bride to spread the word. So feel free to call them or ask other wedding guests for the places your pals are registered.
But before you pick up the phone, I know a much easier way to track down registries . . .
GiftRegistryLocator.com is my secret weapon and such a savior! Just type in the first and last name of either the bride or the groom, and the wedding month and year. The website then searches its database and gives you easy access to all the major retailers where your friends have registered. Macy's, Crate & Barrel, Bloomingdale's, Williams-Sonoma, Tiffany & Co., Pottery Barn, Barneys, and Restoration Hardware are some of the few dozen shops included. If your friends have registered anywhere else unusual, you will have definitely heard about it!
The early bird gets the worm though, in terms of the best and most affordable gifts. So shop as soon as you can!
