How to Create a Wedding Photo Backdrop

Create a Showstopping Wall at a Wedding or Party

This stylish vignette was one of many from BHLDN's Fall 2011 preview party last week, which BHLDN just shared on its Facebook wall. I love the cheery color and accents from BHLDN's line that decorate this red backdrop — and of course, the lovely frocks nearby are rather tempting as well. Whether you want to add a wall like this as a backdrop for guest photos, or create one for a grand entrance area at your wedding or party, it's a worthwhile endeavor that will really add a beautiful component to the day's décor.

Here are some ideas for getting the look:

  • Start with a simple yet substantial material for your backdrop. A piece of drywall, a vintage set of doors, or a piece of plywood all would work well. Frame the backdrop material with molding for a formal finish.
  • Add a pop of color or pattern to the backdrop material. Try high-gloss paint, wallpaper, or decoupaged love poems.
  • Layer ornamentation over the background pattern or color. Think bunting, paper garlands, origami chains, and other pretty trinkets.
  • Loop string lights over the top or hang a chandelier to add illumination.
