I'll admit that I've bought more shower curtain liners than I can remember. Just this past weekend I stepped out to buy yet another one as the soap suds and mildew have started to pop up in my bathroom. When I asked the store clerk which one she liked best, she pulled me aside and gave me some advice that was free in more ways than one. To see what she said, read more.
Forfeiting the potential sale, the kind lady hinted that I could rid my current liners of their aged look by throwing them into the washer with my regular detergent, high level of water, and a few towels to produce friction and a scrubbing effect. Trusting her recommendation, I left the store with my money intact and headed home to test out her suggestion. The result? While I didn't get that same crystal clear vision that accompanies a fresh-out-of-the-package liner, it worked pretty darn well and I love that the only thing it required was a good suds and spin cycle. And I'm giving myself some brownie points for taking another step in the green direction.
