Staining your floors can be a very time-consuming task if you have a large space. But it's also a very rewarding one. Worn floors do have a certain je ne sais quoi, but unless your décor is shabby chic or cottage-y, they can look a bit informal. A rich wood stain will really transform a room. Have you ever stained your floors yourself?

Wow is that guy ever doing it wrong in the picture.
1Yeah, I agree... He has not prepared very well either! Preparation (boring though it is) is the most important part of this job. My advice, get a professional in - they have the kit & the experience... Will last much longer. Save your elbow grease for re-painting the skirting! Emmy
2We are installing our own and finishing them this weekend.... and next week, probably as well. We've already got the old floor torn up. I can't wait to see the finished product.... DH and I both have plenty of experience in carpentry....so I know it's going to be great!
3I just finished the last installment of floor refinishing. I did my children's bedroom 2 summers ago. Last summer I did my bedroom and this summer I did the last carpeted area, a living room and hallway. I must say that it was a lot of work but so worth it. Every time I look at the floors I am so glad that I took on the challenge. It is not rocket science. With all the how-to websites and books if you do a fair amount of research and are a handy person it is do-able. I saved thousands doing it all myself and am so proud of the results!
4Well, not floors per se, but I've stained many a ceiling!
5Wow, so much work! Who would have thought that sanding would be this exhausting?! The Wood Floor Sanding look FANTASTIC.
