Faux Painted Moldings on Design Star

Cool Idea: Two-Toned Paint Is Twice as Nice

A white wall in an empty room is begging for a paint job. Sometimes an unassuming sand color does the trick, but I am often tempted to throw a festive hue up in hopes of livening up the room all on its own. On the "Flower Power" episode of Design Star, the designers are asked to use floral inspiration to sass up a blank apartment. As she is known to do, Nina chooses to create a faux molding with tape. While that idea isn't necessarily new, her use of two colors took me by surprise. Instead of painting the wall sky blue from floor to ceiling, she popped in a bolder cadet blue to further the molding illusion. It's pretty genius, no?
