A duvet is a plush bed cover, often stuffed with down or an equally fluffy synthetic fiber, that is typically paired with a removable, washable duvet cover. Duvets are placed atop bedsheets, like a bedspread or quilt, to provide the decorative finish for a bed.
The benefits of duvets include warmth, versatility, and washability. The cover can easily be removed when it needs laundering or when you get bored and decide to redecorate. The downside, however, is putting the cover back on the duvet after washing, which can often be a very frustrating process.
