I own a few "vintage" pieces. Not necessarily "antiques". I picked up an incredible chair, it has it's original animal print upholstry (tank and black zebra print) and must be from the 60's. I get so many completements on it, it's so chic with such classic lines. I picked it up for just $30 from a used furniture dealer who had no clue of the value how cool it really was, he just thought it was an old chair!

I have a number of antique pieces... and it really reflected my style for so many years. But lately, I've been turning to more contemporary styles, so I'm working on combining the best of both. It's difficult to let go of the "traditional" look. And even more difficult to not get *too* modern, cuz it would never blend with the antiques.

I hope to post photos of the results soon.

I've got a couple of pieces from the 50's and 60's (including my awesome boomerang coffee table) but that's more "vintage" than "antique."

No but I'd really like to. I love the idea of inheriting something or finding a piece at a car boot sale. I'd just love something with a little history. Just a couple of pieces.

Yeah, I have an antique buffet that I use as a dresser (the doors house my stereo speakers). The roomie also has an antique trunk and an old wooden shipping crate (not really furniture, but it is now) that we're using in the living room for coffee/end tables and blanket storage.

Not really antiques, but I do have a lot of vintage pieces in my home. Mostly vintage, in fact. Partly because I love the styles, but partly because I can't beat the price! Smiling

I have an antique marble topped table, a prohibition bar that closes up to look like a cabinet (which is my fav thing in my house), and an antique armoire from the 1890's. In the chest of drawers (which I decided to get rid of during my move) that matches the armoire I found an old letter to someone at a school in Ireland. It talked about how nice their visit was and how muddy the roads were for the horses on the way back... I thought they was pretty neat.

My mom runs a retirement community, and many of the residents there know about my love of antiques and anything kitschy, so I get a lot of items given to me when people move. I've gotten lamps, dishes, paintings, a dressing table, and a pair of gorgeous wood chairs.

I have many antique pieces throughout my house. My house is a mix of contemporary, eclectic and antique furnishings and artwork; otherwise, my 1890s Victorian would be rather stodgy and that wouldn't be fun or interesting!!! I have always loved old furniture, I love their character and I love pieces that look well-cared for yet used.

My French Country bed (Louis XV) circa 1750 is probably my prize piece. The lines are simple and elegant and the decorative aspects of the side rails are carved, but hidden from the casual observer. It is not an ornate piece, but lovely in its elegant simplicity.

No, I have dogs that are allowed on the furniture. It's all covered in comforters anyway, so I wouldn't bother with antiques. Maybe a desk or something, but my house is too small for that right now.

I own a gorgeous trunk from 1888. My bed and vanity are sort of antique in that they belonged to my mother. The vanity was someone else's before her's also. My chair for my vanity is a reproduction but with a modern bottom with wheels, and pink upholstery.

I have an early American Empire mahogany dresser that I love, its lines remind me of a cello. I also just snagged a 1910 Mission desk that has a slide out work space with an ink well! I'd love to get some Stickley down the road but right now I'm just trying to merge some antique pieces with the Thomasville Mission line that we have now. As much as I wish I could get a Mission style couch, we have to have a cheap Rooms to Go one for the dogs to lay on so the rule for us is nice furniture. Cheap couches LOL.

i'm not sure if you would call it "antique" but I have a lot of my grandmother's furniture from the 50-60s. One of my chairs looks a lot like the one pictured here, but white. I mix the older pices with a modern white sofa and barrell chair and some funky accessories and I like the look a lot. It's almost like a more colorful shabby chic.
