Do You Leave Your Dining Table Set?

The dining room designed by Tucker and Marks at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase was obviously set for spectating visitors. But it's not the first time I've seen a table outfitted in chargers, silverware, and linens before dinner time. In some households — albeit not many — it's customary to leave the table set during the day. Is that the routine in your home?

It was a set of melamime dishes that couldn't be microwaved or dishwashed, and scratched really easily. Couldn't really be considered chargers, but were beautiful! Dark brown shimmer color with a bamboo pattern across one corner.So I guess they weren't "fake" just really unusable :) But they were on sale at Target :)

When we weren't using our dining table, we had a set of fake dishware that we'd keep out there to dress the room up!

nope...we only have one kitchen/dining table as our house is open-concept and it would look so messy....we just have a little centrepiece that is there, otherwise we only set it before dinner

Even leaving placemats on the table full time is fraught with adventure in our house... the cats knock them off the table when they get bored. I can't imagine leaving dishware or silverware out. If I didn't lose any tableware, I'd end up having to refinish or replace my flooring on a regular basis.

We've always left the linens on the table (cloth and placemats) but that's about as far as it goes.
