The house I grew up in had "a living room" and "a den." The den was the room with plush couches and a television that we spent every weeknight in. The living room had a gorgeous settee and a pair of Louis XIV chairs that were absolutely uncomfortable, and thus the room was practically never used.
Since the advent of the television, a lot of these rigid, salon-style furniture types have fallen by the wayside. It's a little sad since their curvy wooden frames and tufted buttons are so stunning, but they really are impractical if you're planning to watch a marathon of Real Housewives. Are you keeping the settee alive and well in your home?
