Whether you paint a wall or use a framed chalkboard, there's no denying that a home chalkboard can come in handy. Granted, they're rather ubiquitous lately, but that definitely doesn't diminish their sleek, dark look, nor their usefulness.

I had my husband paint the upper panel of a door in our home (between kitchen and mudroom) with green chalkboard paint. It was tricky to minimize brushstrokes to make the paint smooth enough to write on, but it is good enough, and we use it all the time--very handy! What I really wanted was a chalkboard door from Simpson doors (they are soooo beautiful), but they were insanely expensive.
