No. Just no.
We had a much better idea. We have a finished wall on one side. On the other side we installed shelves between the studs and the wall became a bookcase. As we live in a small house in the tropics and have lots of paperbacks, this has been a great space saver. I agree with other commenters. Ick to the stacks of books!

Not good design - In fact it's really bad. Sorry I wasn't impressed.
I try to reduce clutter not add to it. Yuk.
One of the dumbest "decorating" suggestions I have ever seen. Didn't really like any of it even though I thought I would.

I love this! I do this with my coffee-table-style books that I don't pull out often anyway, and in smaller stacks that are less likely to topple.

Sorry, not a fan. They just look too messy to me. Plus Book Lover's right, how do you get to the bottom book without toppling everything!?
Alas! They are lovely, but the problem remains: It's a pain in the butt to get to the bottom book.
