Here's what you need:
- a fabric of your choice
- liquid starch (i.e. Niagra)
- a brayer
Here's how you do it:
- Cut whatever motifs you like in various sizes and shapes from the fabric that you chose.
- Dip each piece into liquid starch and wring out excess liquid.
- Smooth fabric onto wall and roll on with the brayer.
- Continue until you are happy with the pattern.
- Voilà!

How long do they actually stay on the wall? Will humidity affect the starch?
1Wow!
2I might actally think about this!
RosaDilia, they stay on pretty well in humidity (I do this with paper snowflakes on windows in Houston), but major drops in humidity and temperature can make them loosen up a bit.
I suspect that they'd stay better on interior walls, as opposed to windows, since the temperature/moisture level would be much more stable.
3Does anybody know if this does come off cleanly when you move?
4Beautiful. Love those roses.
5Thanks for this, Casa! I'm usually so tame when it comes to my walls. I totally want to try this!
6Is a brayer just some sort of wallpapering roller or is it a crafts item?
7How do you take them off? This would be great for a teen's room too since I know I changed my mind about what I wanted on my walls about 20 times during HS.
8I'm going to experiment with this on my own walls soon, but according to some folks who've tried it, you can take it off with a damp sponge.
Check this link for more information: http://www.rentaldecorating.com/quick_fix_fabric_on_walls.htm
From the site:
Peel one corner loose, then gently begin to peel the fabric off of the wall panel by panel. If the fabric does not peel easily, dampen the fabric with water using a wet sponge and it should come right off.
9wow I can't wait to do this on my wall!
10This is a great idea! I might try that this weekend
11i've tried this at my mom's place and it turned out well. we decided to change things a bit later and removed everything without much problem.
12awesome idea!
