Nest, one of my favorite design shops in San Francisco, fittingly has a few of these beautiful bird's nest chandeliers hanging from their ceiling, and I'm totally mystified by them. I love its delicate floral trim and irregularly dangling crystals. When my online search for them turned up no results, I called the store to see where I could get my hands on them. The shopkeeper had me downright impressed when she told me she made them herself! Unfortunately, they're too busy with their wonderful shop to be commissioned to make one for moi. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to DIY this?

Christian Dior
ummm... that's kind of a mess
Never, ever...
Mmmm I dunno why, but I am just not feeling that look too much...
Take Dark Brown Twine and dip it in a solution of half water and half craft glue and wind in around the bottom of a large bowl. Make the twine go in crazy patterns to have it look more realistic. Let it dry for 24 hours and then pull it off the bottom of the bowl. Stick a few real sticks in the top to make it look authentic. You could even brush some watered down light brown paint over it for depth. It should look really similar. We used to do similar things to make yarn easter egss at our house when I was a kid. Here's a link to show you how to make the yarn easter eggs. You will see that it should turn out similar.

You could also put a shelac or sealant over it to give it the slightly shiny appearance that it has in the picture.
that may be the worst light fixture ever
Eek. That's so ugly!
wow. you really like it? I'm just imagining how dusty and hard to clean it would be
sorry casa
That's a big ol' mess.
Not a fan. Sorry.
Oh my god that chandelier is breath-taking!!! It's so beautiful, unique, and romantic. I'd love to have one (or three) for my home. I know Casa said the shopkeeper is too busy to be commissioned, but I'd definitely pay her a couple grand for one...
I don't think I'd rock this in my own place, but I certainly appreciate the artistic quality. I could see this in a modern museum or maybe even an earthy, organic restaurant.
Yuck
yikes! and is that a fire hazard of some sort?
I think this is awesome. It would look GREAT in the right decor. Not mine, but it would look great in my mom's house. She has lots of natural accents and twigs.
I also love that Nest store.
Me like! Nature mixed with some bling accents.. the perfect ying yang combo!
I'm not feeling the big chandelier drop pendant thingies. I do like the delicate lights that are attached, though, and I think if there were more of those, this would really be beautiful. How to build a nest? I'm afraid you've asked the wrong bird.
If lil birds could hang out in this less than traditional chandelier, I would be sold!
I love it! If you had big, high ceilings these would look really cool.
This is so ugly...i would never pay money for it. I could go outside splap some branches together and hang some necklaces off them for free!
I think it's hideous, sorry.
Not for me, but very unique.
That's hideous.
dusty.
I don't like it, I think it would just make your home look messy, even if it wasn't.

Ew!
I like it.
Ooh, I really like the top part, the twigs! And the edges with the flowers are fab. I don't know about the crystals...they're a little bit of a stretch. But I bet they're pretty when the light is right!
