The Gramercy Park townhouse of the late fashion designer Abbijane Schifrin is on the market for $8.75 million, and it's truly a dream. The five-story 1855 building sits on a delightful, tree-lined street and looks quite prim from the exterior, with a pair of 21 Club-esque jockeys and a cast-iron gate. But inside the house is dressed with glitzy gilt walls, bright turquoise and pink paint, and Mediterranean-style arts and crafts tilework — a drastic deviation from what passersby see. Dramatic art-deco furniture, animal-print upholstery make the zany space a treat to tour. The style is not for everyone but definitely fun! See more photos when you read more.

I don't care for the kitchen but I absolutely love the rest.
1We're surprised that we like it too. Even the kitchen has potential. A coat of white paint on the cabinets might have been enough to make them stand out.
2I would personally not decorate my house like this, but I would love to stay at one that was. It's interesting, and funky, and some things feel weird or out of place, but that's cool to me. So I like it, but just not in my place!
3OMG the Barbie townhouse!
4Love the building, love the set up of the rooms, hate the colors. I think I'd be sick if I had to sleep in the Pepto Bismol room.
5They would have to take about a million off the price because it would cost that much to repaint and cover those awful colors!! The townhouse itself is amazing and in a wonderful spot but I would have to gut the blue bathroom and that terrible kitchen (though the stove looks good). And what's with those ceilings? And the paneling?? Talk about bad 70s taste!! But, to each her own. That woman was probably very happy there. I sure would not be . . . and I love color!!!
