Since I live in a relatively small home, I'm always on the lookout for smart storage solutions. This system of drawers really caught my eye, and now I'm thinking about ways to use already available home features in smarter ways. 
Even if you can't take advantage of a staircase, like this household did, you can think about smarter ways to incorporate storage into your home. Consider adding extra shelving and baskets to hall closets, or line a hallway with narrow bookshelves that can be customized with storage containers. Before you know it, you'll have your house in order!

I LOVE this! What a fantastic idea!
1Those are fantastic. We have storage already under our stairs with access through our coat closet that is too the left of the stairs. We've toyed with the idea of putting another door on the other side of the staircase to have easier access to those items shoved all the way to the right.
2Great idea. My only complaint is that drawers pulls should be re-aligned better. Right now, they look chaotic to me. Perhaps CONTINUE the column of pulls (starting from the left) in column #2 and #5? There would be extra pulls, but visually, I think the area would look better. JMHO.
3anon we have the same set up as you do, and I too have considered adding another door or something to the other side where the landing is. That would be in the dining room though and not sure it would make sense to do that.
4I think this is so much nicer than a cupboard under the stairs!
It definitely depends how much room you have in your house though. The space under the stairs could add so much to your room. For example you could hollow it out and put a table under there for dining, or a work space. It's definitely an under thought area in many houses - well or so I imagine.
