If you're low on cash for furniture, or just want to try something unique, make a daybed out of shipping pallets. You may spot some on the street, but you can also ask a local warehouse if they have any to offer or sell cheaply. Paint or spray paint a pair of them to match a cushion, and then stack them. You can either order a piece of custom foam to fit (try FoamOrder), or use a few small floor cushions or one long one as a makeshift mattress. I love how this one was painted white to blend in with the wainscoting. What do you think?

I actually really like this. But I think you'd have to do some mechanial fastening, just so it didn't come apart. Screws into some long boards on the base to link the bottom three, and screw the top three into the bottom three. Not sure it works perfectly in this space, but it's a really cool piece of furniture.
1Most wood pallets are contaminated with bugs and other hazardous liquids. If you are looking to do this I would try to find a place that heat treats or kiln dries there pallets. The last thing you would want is to have your home infested with wood beetles.
2Cool, but I'm really loving that head in hands sculpture!
3i totally love this!!! definitely something i'll try
4I am so in love with this! Definitely something I would try...we have tons of pallets at my work! And it looks like you could use some short baskets or makeshift drawers and use the pallets as storage!
