Cool Idea: Lockers as a Kitchen Pantry

In a fabulous kitchen makeover from one of Design*Sponge's readers, I spotted these lockers used as a kitchen pantry and nearly died of envy. This is such a clever idea. The lockers are a great size for pantry items, and it looks they've installed wooden shelves to make things sturdier. The metal locker doors are great for magnetic spice containers and things like that, too. The fact that they've built the lockers directly into the walls makes it seamless, and gives it more polish than a "thrifted" look. The lockers also have an industrial style that works quite well with their stainless steel appliances. What do you think?

I like the idea of fully utilizing space, recycling an older item that may seem unusable, and well just being efficient. It seems to look okay in this kitchen, but I would use it in a separate pantry. Also I think another great idea would be a garage or in a pantry or utility room where cleaning supplies could be stored. They could be locked too-which is great for those of us who have little children!

Very neat -- I'm with Ella, though, if they weren't built in, they would look really cheap.

I like the built in look in certain kitchens, but I think that if they weren't installed in the wall, I would probably call them a don't in the kitchen. I'd be okay with them in a mudroom, or as basement storage, or in the family gym area or something like that. The ones in the pic were done tastefully.
