Claire Danes Launches Valspar Hi-DEF Paint Line

Claire Danes Launches Valspar's New Hi-DEF Line

If you were heading through Grand Central Station's Vanderbilt Terminal yesterday, you might've been lucky enough to spot 2010 Emmy Award nominee Claire Danes stepping into another role — that of Valspar painter.

The actress lent her talents to launch Valspar Paint's new Hi-DEF Advanced Color System. As part of the launch, Danes, along with artist Stephen Burks, unveiled "Life in Hi-DEF Color," an interactive exhibition showcasing a series of portraits by Burks's studio, Readymade Projects, of everyday New Yorkers against backdrops of Valspar's new Hi-DEF Advance Color System Paint. Danes and a group of painters painted 26 freestanding walls as part of the project. Every two hours throughout the day, Burks and his painters transformed the exhibition by painting new colors on each wall, demonstrating the quick-drying, one-coat coverage of Valspar's Hi-DEF Advanced Color System technology.

The daylong event, which was free and open to the public, benefited the nonprofit artist-advocacy organization United States Artists.

"United States Artists (U.S.A.) is a fantastic artist-advocacy organization. I'm pleased to be working with Valspar and U.S.A. to bring Stephen Burks' beautiful installation to Grand Central. I appreciate how color can transform a space and I'm excited to use Valspar's new, richly colorful Hi-DEF Advanced Color System paints," Danes said in a statement.
