Flip or Flop's Christina el Moussa Takes Us Inside Her Baby Boy's Nursery

The Flip or Flop family has gotten bigger! Hosts Christina and Tarek el Moussa, already parents to a daughter named Taylor, welcomed a baby boy named Brayden earlier this year. Everything was in place for his arrival, including his lovely new nursery.

For any expecting parent, outfitting a nursery is a big deal. When you're in the home renovation business, it's even more serious. Fortunately, Tarek and Christina tackled this project as they usually do — together.

Tarek and Christina moved their daughter Taylor into a bedroom in their Southern California home with a bigger bathroom, and went about transforming her old space into something new. Inspiration came to Tarek almost immediately.

"He said the one thing he really wanted was a baseball theme," Christina recalled of Tarek's initial input. "I thought the cutest thing I could do is vintage baseball." That meant buying vintage baseballs, a bat, and mitt on Etsy. Denim curtains, which recall old players' uniforms, are on the way.

The end result is in keeping with the entire home's "rustic-y glam" feel. "I even put a chandelier in the baby's room," Christina said, happily. "It has a spherical shape, which ties in with the theme. I have a jillion chandeliers in my house, so I wanted this room to have a cool light."

Another eye-catching feature in the room is the multi-colored statement wall. The project incorporated four different hues of reclaimed wood all sourced from a nearby business Warren Christopher Fine Floor Coverings, which is conveniently owned by one of Christina's friends.

"I showed her some pictures I found online," Christina explained. "And she brought over a ton of samples. She knew I wanted to do a vintage baseball theme and that I wanted to incorporate a little bit of blue. She found every single wood, and they used a metallic blue color on some of the pieces. I fell in love with that." Tarek and Christina added letters found at RH Baby & Child to spell out their son's name, a decor touch they also used in big sister Taylor's room.

The room is one baby Brayden will be able to enjoy for many years — not that he'll be the only one.

"The mom spends a lot of time in the nursery," she said. "I'll be on the rocking chair, feeding, doing stories. It should be a room I think is cool and cute too — not something that I want to get out of."

The el Moussas spelled out Brayden's name using RH Baby & Child Vintage Industrial Letters ($19 each). The letters rest atop a wood feature wall featuring pieces from Warren Christopher Fine Floor Coverings.

Keeping with the vintage baseball theme, a trio of onesies hang from a vintage bat rack. The space was complete with the addition of the RH Baby & Child Newton Pendant ($299).

No HGTV baby's room is complete without a onesie from the network!

Christina and Tarek oversaw a renovation of the bathroom that incorporated a palette of blues, grays, and browns.

Christina and Tarek's daughter Taylor can't wait to be a big sister. She tried out Brayden's crib, which, like all the large furniture in the room, is from Newport Cottages.
