CS: What was the inspiration behind your debut furniture collection and limited-edition collaborative pieces?
JJ: The debut pieces in my furniture collection include two streamlined bespoke sofas — the Kingsley and Coulter, named after my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and his best buddy — a furniture and lighting collaboration with plaster artist Stephen Antonson, and a trio of embroidered ottomans.
We also collaborate with local artists on limited-edition pieces. One of our favorite partnerships so far is with Paul Benson, an amazing Bay Area metalsmith. I’d collaborated with Paul on furniture pieces before, and Cavalier gave us the perfect venue to explore other projects. We’ve created a collection of beautiful handmade solid aluminum, brass, and enamel decorative boxes that I absolutely love.
