Casa Cravings: RoxieB's Halloween Decor

I was wondering what Casa readers were up to in terms of Halloween decorating, so I started cruising through the Casa Cravings lists,where I found RoxyB's list.

She has some definitively devious decorations here—if I came across those cats in a dark corner they'd make me scream. How about you? What direction are you going in when it comes to Halloween decor? Scary or sweet?

I love Halloween so much I chose it as my wedding day -- we'll be married 17 years this year! To me Halloween is all about the spirits, spooks, and mischief of the unseen worlds so we keep the theme pretty spooky. I try to do it so that its not too spooky for the little kids though. Lots of bats, black gauzy fabric, candles to make my porch look haunted. I let the dead flowers stay in the garden until after Halloween, and I put a huge spider web across my climbing roses (which are quite tatty and need pruning at this point) to give the house more of a spooky vibe. And if you look closely on Halloween night you will see our resident ghosts welcoming you... muahahaha!

they don't do halloween here in New Zealand, so I won't be doing much...however, there's a Pulp event i'm going to this weekend where people will be dressing up like their favorite geeky superheroes/star wars characters, so it is sort of like dressing up for halloween just a wee bit early! :)

I don't want you guys to think that I'm totally nuts - I really will throw a party for almost any occasion! Halloween is just a fun time to mix it up with some over-the-top decor!

i don't really have a place of my own to decorate yet, but i tend to go for the sweeter, more grown up halloween look (and definitely not scary.) right now i'm obsessing over the pottery pumpkin luminaries at the top of this page http://enssc.com/Products.aspx?subcat=186 . i actually work for this store and i love looking at all the different faces on them! i already caved and bought one, i may have to buy another one before the season's over :)
