Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Novogratzes' New Family Collection For CB2
They've been called "the coolest family in the world," but for Bob and Cortney Novogratz, just being family is enough. The stars of HGTV's Home by Novogratz and mom and dad to seven kids ranging from 3 to 15 have made family their mantra and are now putting it on their designs. The founders of Sixx Design have partnered up with CB2 for a line of products, aptly named FAMILY, that reflect their signature style. According to Bob, "We came up with the idea of FAMILY a long time ago. Maybe six, seven years ago we got some light boxes and made the letters ourselves. We have a big family, so we thought we should really create a family brand, because we didn't feel like there was anything out there like that."
The first piece, a colorful rug emblazoned with the word FAMILY that appeared on the show last season, will be available at CB2 stores and online in July (starting at $399). We were invited to the Novogratzes' home along NYC's Hudson River as the family posed with the rug for CB2's Summer catalog. With Justin Bieber and Fun blasting on the stereo, Cortney negotiated her teenagers' wardrobe issues, separated bickering twins, and goaded all seven kids into smiling for the camera (and yes, plenty of jellybeans and promises to play with her iPhone were used). Between shots, Bob discussed the collaboration with CB2 and decorating with kids.
Fall Preview: Our Favorite New Products From Crate and Barrel and CB2, and Land of Nod
We recently swung by the Fall press previews for Crate & Barrel, CB2, and Land of Nod, and were utterly delighted by the new Fall lines. Most of these pieces won't be available until July, so you're getting an exclusive peek at what to expect from these companies in the coming months — make sure to bookmark your favorites so you can look for them online or in-store after July. Here are some quick notes on each collection:
- Crate & Barrel: Gorgeous Marimekko fabrics, natural woods, plaid and stripe upholstery, organic, handmade-looking tableware, pops of blue, and beautiful pendant lamps are some of the highlights for us.
- CB2: A fun, urban vibe, big pops of color, especially yellow, experimentation with pattern (see the red gingham lounge chair and various rugs), and natural woods.
- Land of Nod: This kids' retailer provides major inspiration for weddings or outdoor party decor thanks to the lanterns, garlands, string lights, and textiles. We're also loving the throw pillow, pendants, Sante Fe-style rugs, wall decor, and more.

Love It or Hate It? CB2 Tie-1-On Sectional

CB2's new overscaled Tie-1-On sectional is a weather-friendly, water-resistant polyester chair with black nylon straps that allows you to tie two chairs together for a loveseat, sofa, etc. It's basically a bean bag chair for the outdoors with an extra convertible feature. I don't have a backyard pool or lawn to decorate, so it may be a moot point, but I think I'd prefer a cushioned, teak chaise or something of the sort for my imaginary outdoor space. How about you? Do you love this?

Here are a few more of my picks from the sale!
CB2 Pixel Pillow: Love It or Leave It?
It's been a while since we've seen a great geeky pillow (like these 10 great picks), but I'm loving this Pixel Pillow ($50) from CB2. The square throw features pixelated detail in shades of orange, yellow, green and blue, perfect for mixing and matching with all types of couches.
Since I'm an admitted sucker for orange, I of course love it. I also love that a geeky, tech-focused design has found its way into a mainstream retail outlet. What do you think?
Dangerous Liaisons Rug: Funny or Frightening?

When I saw CB2's Dangerous Liaisons Rug ($229) — a reproduction of the Canberra Repertory Society's 2009 theater poster for Les Liaisons Dangereuses — I thought the fat-cat floor covering could be a funny and interesting conversation-starter. However, when I showed it to a co-worker (and cat lover), she deemed it "frightening." What's your verdict? Would you sport it in your home?
Love It or Hate It? CB2 Digi Pop Bed Linens

CB2 goes RGB this season with its new Digi Pop Bed Linens ($30-$140), duvet and shams featuring a band of pixelated prism of web colors on crisp, white, 250-thread-count cotton. Now you can work, play, and dream in cyberspace!
What do you think? Is CB2 trying too hard with this Internet-inspired design or have they created a picture perfect color scheme? Vote below!
