Buildings Built For Love

Location: Heart Island, NY

History: On Valentine's Day in 1905, George Boldt gave his wife, Louisa, an estate on Heart Island. Plans included several buildings, including a fairy-tale-inspired home modeled after a German castle. Tragically, Louise passed away a year before the home was to be completed, but today, it's a popular tourist site, and couples are regularly wed at the castle.
