Before and After: Indoor Turned Outdoor Couches

When we moved into our house last year, I knew the Ikea couches we had in our apartment wouldn't look at all right in our new living room, but I loved these couches! They really are some of the most comfortable couches I've ever lounged about on and they are great for sleeping on. So as I was doing the furniture shuffle, moving old stuff to empty places when new stuff arrived, I struck upon a great idea. Why not recover these couches with outdoor fabric? So that's exactly what I did.

I'm pretty handy with the sewing machine and I've made simple futon covers in the past. However, this project was a little intimidating, because I knew I wanted to add a decorative roll around the seams, and the circular shaped back would be a pain, I was convinced. I gathered my courage and went for it though. After a few days of work, the covers turned out just how I had envisioned! I still need to put the zippers in the backs, but other than that, I'm really happy with the way these turned out.
