Before and After: Jennifer's Hurricane Katrina Makeover

Yesterday, I asked you who you thought should win Design Star. You can still vote online through Wednesday. To make the most informed decision, I figured I'd show you some photos from each designer's makeover. Both designers worked with a New Orleans family whose home had been destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Jen's family, the Gowlands, needed a space that accommodated both their love of cooking and their big family.

Before Jen showed up, the family had very limited furniture and a raw, unfinished space, as they concentrated on rebuilding their home.

Better than what she had before the transformation. But I agree with meetmeherelater, it's lacking the New Orleans flavor.

Sorry, but it looks like something any normal person could do, she is supposed to be a designer. I mean what is with the chandelier not being centered with the dining room table. What about that plant that is just looming by the fireplace. I could go on, but you guys get what I'm sayin'.

stripes add small detail to the otherwise boring walls, love the red cabinets, feel sorry for her couch decision, love the fireplace. overall- thumbs up

Jen's red Kitchen cabinets are striking and so bold. I like the fact that she added two tables for the family. I like the mirror by the small glass table and the clock in the dining room. I think Jen will win.
