Oakland, CA-based furniture maker Ashley Eriksmoen recently found two abandoned chairs on the street. Given her interest in greening furniture design and making her work more eco-oriented, she saw it as a perfect opportunity to repurpose the broken chairs into something beautiful, while also saving them from the landfill. She writes, "I wanted to make these look more updated than the original dining chairs, so I cut out the scrollwork and gave these a sleeker feel as a bench."
