Artwork Showing Buildings, Bridges, Construction Worker

Roundup: Under Construction

While Labor Day is often associated with barbecues and beach parties these days, it has much more work-oriented roots. First celebrated in 1884, the holiday was created by the labor movement as an appreciation of the social and economic achievements of American workers.

If, perchance, you have some hardworking construction friends, you may want to send them this Bird Construction Worker Postcard ($3) with a little note telling them how much you appreciate their efforts. It comes in white, steel blue, or concrete green.

To celebrate the literal construction of this country by its workers, I've rounded up some artwork that commemorates the edifices, bridges, and houses that dot this country. See my finds below.
