Every year as Valentine's Day approaches, I become weary of the dozen red roses cliché. Beautiful as they may be, the more pervasive the blooms, the more impersonal. So I got in touch with celebrity floral designer Jeff Leatham to give us some tips on creating a high-design floral arrangement that'll make your Valentine's Day décor much more special — without breaking the bank. Jeff is the artistic director of the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris, as well as the star of TLC's Flowers Uncut, and has created floral installations for the likes of Eva Longoria, Kylie Minogue, and Janet Jackson. Come along and learn how to re-create his magical, inspiring arrangements in your home!
In a dream world, we'd all have a custom-built walk-in closet to ourselves, à la Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City: The Movie. But let's face it: wallets the size of Mr. Big's are few and far between. So, we share. Sometimes, unfortunately, sharing a closet with your better half feels like World War III. To lighten the tension and take the frustration out of making two wardrobes fit into one — whilst keeping you both organized and happy — I got a few tips from the experts of closet organizing: California Closets.
Split your closet: ladies 60/men 40. In order to make this work, give your man the hall closet to store his large items, like jackets and suits.
Ladies: If your spouse stores his stinky gym shoes in the closet, add lavender sachets to your hangers to keep your clothes smelling sweet.
Anne, Aaron, and their daughter, Iris, share their Minneapolis Cape Cod-style home with their dog, Jasper, and cat, Boxcar. The family's two-bedroom, two-bathroom home is compact but nicely sized, and they've lived there for just over five years.
Anne reports, "We've updated the house quite a bit. We installed a new boiler and water heater, replaced some of the old plumbing, repainted the outside and remodeled the kitchen. The kitchen was obviously the biggest project. I love the results, but it was so much work (and money!). I really learned a lot though."
When asked about their decorating style, Anne notes, "I don't know that I'd really say we have a distinct decorating style. We like mid-century stuff quite a bit and tend to shy away from ornate/fussy furniture. I love thrifting and try to make sure every room is a good balance of new and old stuff. With a toddler in the house, there are toys everywhere now, so dealing with that is a challenge!" I really admire a family that's able to balance their sense of style with a comfortable, functional, and kid-friendly home. See how Anne and Aaron achieve this balance in the slideshow!
Flipping through Luc Roymans's photography portfolio, I was struck by this image of an oversize, sculptural vase on a dining table. While the tendency for a vase of this size is usually to fill it with tall, overwhelming blooms, I love the way that this vase has been underfilled.
Using only a few stalks of Bells of Ireland, the vase, not the flowers, takes center stage. Not only is it a striking design statement; it's also an economic one. Just because your vase is overwhelming doesn't mean your flower bill has to be as well!
This cast iron antique tub was restored with a new custom enamel coating and imported ceramic mosaics handmade in Europe. The designers can customize tubs to your exact specifications, so if you're designing your dream bathroom, you don't have to compromise when it comes to the particular look of your tub.

I often receive emails from you readers asking for help finding furnishings, be it something specific like Bella's bedding from New Moon or general like a fun affordable rug with brown tones to match your new living room. Sometimes, you write in asking for help dealing with a stubborn problem you're having with your home, like sprucing up mirrored closet doors. To make dealing with all these queries more of a collaborative effort, I started a new CasaSugar Community group, called Assisted Living.
Assisted Living is the place for you to post all of your questions and issues, and both myself and your fellow community members can all chime in with answers and suggestions. In some cases, I may even post your question as an Ask Casa on CasaSugar! It always helps if you post photos, whether it's a screenshot of the latest episode of Gossip Girl revealing the lamp you're trying to track down, or a photo of the living room you're decorating and need a rug for.
So join Assisted Living and begin posting your questions and photos!
