In an interview with Martha Stewart in a back issue of Domino, she was asked if she had a designated messy zone in her home. Her response: a decided no, sans any explanation. It's understandable that answering affirmatively might tarnish the homemaking queen bee's image, and I'm sure she has plenty of help keeping her abode spic and span. But a little mess here and there is nothing to be bashful about; it makes us all seem more human. And I'm not just saying that to excuse the pile of shoes and purses next to my front door. Tell me: Do you have a designated messy zone? And if so, where is it?

Don't have one...
I'm a definite neat freak. Borderline OCD when it comes to how clean/neat my house looks.
1Designated... no. But messy... yes. My daughters seem to mess things up way quicker than I can put them away!
2i'm a neat freak
3my kitchen is usually spotless
but my bedroom always gets more slack
The only place I ever really let get messy is my bedroom except I make my bed religiously EVERY DAY. So I guess it doesn't really get THAT messy.
4HipMom, I hear you on that one. I have a minor heartattack every time I see my oldest daughters room (I guess I know where she gets it), and I have a 1 year old that drags all of her toys out of the playroom!
5My husbands office and closet are consistenetly messy. The rest of the house I try to keep tidy, at the very least presentable.
6I don't really have one...
7The floor in my walk in closet gets messy every other week. Generally, that's when my clothes hamper is in the laundry area so I start tossing dirty clothes on the floor... (That's currently what's going on right now. But it'll be OK by tomorrow!)
8kitchen always gets the messiest!
9as well as the bedroom a TAD bit haha.. sometimes when im in a hurry i tend to throw things on the ground.. oooops!!!
like others, i'm a neat freak. a neat freak who has some serious hangups about cleaning. which means i'm a neat freak who doesn't clean without a lot of prodding.
generally the kitchen is the worst, because dishes are the bane of my existence. right now the bedroom though is also a bit on the messy side...too many nights eating takeout by the light of the laptop! and lets not get started with the umpteen million loads of laundry that have yet to be put away....
10My sink. I hate doing sihes after dinner!
11I will clean up everything and put leftovers away but I hate doing the dishes so I usually just pile them in the sink
My kitchen counters are always full of papers and stuff. But if we have company coming over, everything gets tossed to our bedroom.
12Can the whole house be it?
13My messy zone is my closet.. I definitely have a very large walk in closet but you know what that means! More stuff!! That's where I change so there's dirty clothes on the floor, shoes all over the place from when I just kick them off, and different outfits that I tried out on all the racks.. oh and not to mention all the luggage and bags everywhere! Time for some Spring cleaning!
14My junk drawer. Sometimes things get a little bit messy, but I am def. a clean freakazoid.
15My desk. I am working on it - it's my goal to have this area reorganized and decluttered by the end of the month. The rest of my place is clean and tidy.
16the whole apartment? I'd have to say my desk...maybe it just seems so messy becuase my husband is a bit OTP about order and in comparison my stuff looks cluttered!
17CLOSETS! They only stay neat and organized for a few days before I start taking things off the shelves hurriedly and messing the whole thing up!
18My home office.
19I have a chair beside my closet that's specifically for holding all the clothes I tried on and didn't want to hang back up right away, along with coats and accessories like scarves that will get worn again soon. Only very rarely is that poor chair cleaned off.
20My bedroom... everything else is pretty clean (especially my kitchen which I am ocd about) but I have a really hard time keeping my bedroom clean.
21Any closet! I'll get annoyed and organize them but they stay the messiest!
22Yes... unfortunately one of the kitchen counters has been a designated "dump zone"- usually about 8-12" high with lap top chargers, phones, mail yet to read/recycle, and random business cards. At least we know where to go if we can't find something...
23No, I don't. Every item has a designated place, and it's usually there or returned there. I have one knick-knack drawer that is a catch all (for items that don't have a designated spot). The drawer is always closed, so it's fairly neat. I'm an orderly person.
24My whole house is messy but the area that is allowed to be messy changes all the time. Sometimes I let my projects take over a whole room for weeks at a time.
25I have a rubbish drawer. It's a drawer in the bottom of my filing cabinet where I chuck all the stuff I might need one day and can't bring myself to throw away but clutter up my room like mad.
Out of sight, out of mind
26My car. Anything in the house gets put away/cleaned before I sit down. just arrived from the airport? oh a sterilizing of the kitchen and whole house vacuum is in order before I unpack.
27But, how much more interesting is that picture than this topic? I have so been there.
