If Cottage Living folds, I'm going to be one unhappy camper.

Is Blueprint closing? I just bought their January/February 2008 issue and they are still encouraging subscription which I intend to do.

I too am a big Cottage Living Fan. Also Blueprint. I am really sad to see that one go. I think it if they would have beefed up content even more it would have helped. I work at Meredith (Better Homes & Garden) and we are still going strong on all our Home mags and books.

I'll definitely mourn Blueprint. And if Domino were to fold I'd be miiiserable. I actually had never looked at Cottage Living until a few months ago at a friend's home, but I was instantly a fan and will definitely be buying it in the future.

I love Domino and Better Homes & Gardens - that one is much more contemporary than I expected!

How does DIY contribute to their downfall? if nothing else I need the inspiration. Living Etc., Domino, Blueprint, Cottage Living, Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Dwell. I've had subscriptions to them all and now am down to Domino only. No time, and the upswing of design blogs has cut into what's left. I've always read Bluelines more readily than Blueprint, but it will be missed.

i think that some are better than othres - for sure. there are a couple that i get at work that i LOVE to read and there are some that i would buy on my own. i like domino... that's one that's worth the subscription to me

Yes, we definitely care! I'm still totally confounded about House and Garden folding and have already noticed its absence in my monthly decorating reading (sadness!). I really don't understand what the reasoning behind closing such a beloved and established institution is - are people really not buying any more? I don't understand how the magazine market can support so many fashion magazines (not that I'm complaining about that! ), but has to drop home decorating ones from a pool that was already much smaller to start with? I find the housing market excuse hard to believe, as I certainly don't own my own home, nor do I think I will be able to buy one any time in the near future - nevertheless, I still devour all the shelter mags each month.... I'm just saying.

I like Domino (even though it has changed) but don't read any others (well, I read blueprint) and I'm sorry but I can't stand Cottage Living!

I dont know what I'd do if Domino, Architecture Digest, Elle Decor or Traditional Home folded. They're my favorites!!

I LOVE my shelter mags as well, but LOVE LOVE LOVE my DIY-based ReadyMade even more. I wish some shelter mags would get a little bit hipper and a little less stuffy... And they ALL should include some DIY stuff!

I so miss Blueprint. I was a bit disappointed with the last 3-4 issues of Domino, so now I page thru it before I buy. Before I would just buy the magazine and take a gamble usually for the good. I also read Dwell and Met Home.

I love them...I will really miss House and Garden. My mom had a subscription for years and she'd always send them over to me when she was done.

I also really really love Coastal Living magazine.

Domino, Elle Decoration UK, Living Etc. and Marie Claire Maison are my favorites. I don't know whether to count Blueprint now that it's folding

Yes we care! And no we don't all love DIY decorating. Professional work is very well done and inspirational. House & Garden was one of my top two and I'm still shocked it is gone.
Elle Decor I regard as the best residential magazine, high end, and I also love Domino, British House & Garden, Vogue Living, and sometimes Metropolitan Home is good.

Blueprint had ay more DIY than Domino and other shelter mags (besides ReadyMade, of course), so I wonder how that contributed to its fall. It was one of my favorites for its mix of design, fashion, and tech!

I love LOVED Blueprint, and was a subscriber. I am really torn up inside about its departure. My other favorites are Domino, ReadyMade, Detroit Home, and Metropolitan Home, and Elle Decor (sometimes Dwell). I buy many others at the store, and am absolutely obsessed with them. Long live shelter mags, I need the variety!

i will totally miss bluprint and i guess they will be able to do more at a cheaper cost by taking it online only..

i love shelter mags..i read them all and subscribe to many..but i think that over time, we just need to keep it fresh and the mags that exist need to broaden their demographics...some of the prices are outrageous..they need to make more effort to appeal to home makers who can afford to spend $500 on a bed instead of $2000..also the foreign shelter mags just seem to be a bit more creative and more inspirational

but i love domino...it is one of the mags that i look forward to every month..

I'm with a lot of people when I say I'm really going to miss Blueprint. It took me awhile to get into it, but once I did, it was love. They really won me over with this winter's cover. White, gold and dusty pink! Love it!

At this point, I still get Domino and Romantic Homes. I think I'd mourn more for Romantic Homes, but since I may be moving into a more modern loft in the near future, I may come to depend more on Domino.

When I first subscribed to Domino, it was great and I could actually afford things in it. Now, that $6,000 chair may be pretty, but I don't make that kind of money! So if they all are doing this, I can understand why they are folding.

i never bought those or many american design mags. i used to have subscriptions to Style at home and Canadian House and Home, and still get them occasionally. what i hate about all those mags is the cooking junk and gardening stuff. blah! i like metropolitan home, azure, natural home and dwell best.

I'd never before heard the term 'shelter magazine.'

I've found for me I just don't have the time to read magazines like I once did. I think after I do some decluttering and simplifying I may have more time to take a look at them
