- "If your kitchen is cramped, remove your upper cabinets and install open shelving. Just as much storage space, but without the bulk."
- "Cover the books in your bookcase with white or brown kraft paper, and write the titles on the jackets with a fountain pen in really personal handwriting."
- "Tired of your red coral? Spray it black!"
- "Instead of centering one big piece of art over your bed, hang one really small piece. It will have even more impact."
- "Rearrange your fireplace mantel. Instead of one candlestick at each end, mass lots of them on one side. Remember: Odd numbers make the best arrangements."

I love that kitchen, it's gorgeous!
2I'm a big fan of rearranging and making small changes as opposed to redecorating. And it doesn't cost much! In my house, large furniture stays put, but artwork, mirrors, lamps, small tables , and accessories are always finding new places. Add a pillow, paint color, new candles and everything looks fresh.

That kitchen is beautiful, but I can't do the open shelving. It means I would have to get rid of my mismatched coffee mugs!
4I love that kitchen! My only concern would be re-sale. What would people think if you only had shelves and not cabinets?

7Open shelving can often look so untidy - plus things get dusty when they aren't in the cupboard.

9Agree with gruaig_rua, dust factor is HUGE when you have open shelving. I prefer closed storage.
10frosted glass could give the illusion of more open space, while hiding clutter and mismatched coffee mug, and keeping dust out.
The open shelf look is too farmhouse for me. And I'm already a little too neurotic about things being in their correct place....
The only tip I really like is spray painting red coral black. The rest don't suit my style (esp. the one tiny piece of art thing - I hate when a tiny picture floats lost on a huge wall.)
