Apparently I wasn't the only Bay Area resident enchanted with the skyline on New Year's Eve. Candy23 sent in some photos of her view as well. She says, "This was taken during our drive down on highway 80 back to the Bay Area. It was amazing! As if the sky was on fire!"

Awesome! It looks like lava flow. I wish I were wise enough to drag my camera out for my view of this spectacular sunset. Unfortunately, I had begun my champagne sipping just before then and it didn't even dawn on me :-/

2I saw it too! On BART from SF to Oakland, it was amazing, everyone grabbed their cameras to try to capture it. And special because it was my birthday too!
3If it had been ANY other day, I would've seen it on BART coming back to SF from work in Oakland, OR from my office window which looks out over the bay and SF skyline, but since I was on vacation, I totally missed it, BOO!
