Hey Casa! So, you seem to know all things decorating and art, so maybe you can help me with this question: I love the models of buildings that architects make to showcase a design. Not the huge ones attached to a table with landscaping around it, but the simple (preferably all-white) standalone ones. You know the one that Robert Redford's driver gives to Woody Harrelson in Indecent Proposal? I really want to know if and where I can get those kinds of models, for use as an art piece in my home — can you help? Thanks!

To see my response, just read more.
I tracked down some architectural models I found online. Let me know if these are what you're looking for! If you don't want to spend the amount of money asked for these models, try contacting your local university's graduate program to see if you could purchase architectural models from graduate students after they've finished studio projects. Does anyone else have suggestions for Dutchshoes?

I have a few of my own models (all white) that I made in my college studios, and I leave them on display in my house--they always get a lot of attention and praise. I have to be honest when I say that making your own model isn't THAT difficult if you're the least bit crafty (and also detail-oriented). If you try it out, I recommend using all white "museum board" from an art supply store. This is white all the way through. Regular glue works too. It's a fun project and it will take a long time to complete, but the feeling of accomplishment is amazing! You can build scale models of any building too--all you need are some photos of it and a plan (like the floor plan).
1Cool!!
2WooHoo - thank you Casa for looking into my question for me: this totally helps! \o/
Though some of the signed and dated models are kinda pricey, it's definitely something to keep in mind as an investement art piece when I start earning the big bucks
Until that time I definitely like the idea of contacting local colleges,
and nikolem2's suggestion of making one myself is definitely tempting, if a little daunting...
Thanks again you guys! D.
3making one myself sounds like a found rainy day(s) project.
4I mean fun not found sorry! I haven't had enough coffee yet.
5If I want to make one myself, are there places with patterns and floor plans?
