I'm a huge fan of anyone who does their own home renovations. In fact, I encourage it. I'm even happier, though, if your renos indirectly or directly benefit a charity. So, as it is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I must suggest you add this "Pink for a Purpose" Hammer to your tool box.
Until August 2008, Tomboy Tools will donate $3 from the sale of each hammer to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, with a guaranteed minimum of $100,000. Aside from being a great fundraiser, the hammer is lightweight, has a comfy rubber grip, is magnetized to pick up nails easier, and comes in pink AND blue. Short story long: neither you nor the men in your life can get away with not buying one because of the color.

I realize this is a great opportunity to support the breast cancer charities... but I cringed when I read hammer and breast cancer in the same sentence. May need a little more tact.
1Love that!! Great idea.
2I might have to get their pink tool kit/set. I'm not a tomboy, but I do hate to wait for my husband to fix anything (small things). Every once in a while, I need a hammer or screwdriver. Of course, when I go to get the one that is mine, in the kitchen drawer, it's gone. The hubby can't keep his hands off of them & he never puts them back. I know he will not touch a pink tool! I'm getting that kit!
3I have lots of my own tools (even power ones!), but I think I need a pink hammer!
4i like these but already have so many tools.
5Personally I think the pink marketing done by so many companies is kind of crass. It seems less about awareness and more about making a buck on something that is dreaded by women. Don't get me wrong, I support research, awareness, and so forth, but I think this pink ribbon stuff has gone overboard.
Additionally I really dislike tools that are marketed towards women based on the "pretty colors". Kind of like the "girl legos" that didn't seem to stick around. I liked my regular legos just fine, I don't need pastels to enjoy something.
6While I totally respect what discocactus is saying, I think that companies are doing more than just trying to raise awareness of breast cancer; they're also raising money.
For example, Tomboy Tools is donating $100K to the Komen Foundation, and we at 1-800-Free411 are donating up to $25K to the National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund. For details of our fundraiser (and more), check us out at www.free411.com/pink
