I can't get enough of shag rugs lately: I adore the look, and I love the feel of them under my toes. So I'm really excited about this area rug made from a blend of 80 percent sustainable bamboo and 20 percent cotton.
With a texture similar to silk or cashmere, the Anji Mountain Bamboo Shag Area Rugs (via Behind the Curtains) sound absolutely luxurious, and the durable and anti-bacterial material is also luxuriously practical. The rugs will be available in two sizes — 5 x 8 and 7 x 10 — and five rich colors; I particularly love the sage shade and the pewter (pictured).

how much will it cost?
2Is it really a good idea to be making rugs out of plants that are declining in certain parts of the world? Also, bamboo is very difficult to clean

5No, bamboo is great for the environment! It grows faster than almost any other tree. It is sustainable, so you can farm it and quickly replenish the crop.
6That is what I thought Bamboo is something we should be looking at to replace other products. I already have my bamboo cutting board. And would love to have this rug. Looks comfy and I love that color. Love Bamboos have several very fun.

10A friend of mine has bamboo sheets in her guestroom and they are seriously the softest thing I have ever slept on! I even like them better than the silk-satin ones on her own bed, and am looking into getting some for myself.
So this rug will go along with them nicely:)

13oh wow! i love rugs but most of them are made of wool or silk - i'm vegan and allergic to wool, so it is hard to find an appropriate rug - but these look stunning!
