I'm not a gun person, which is precisely why I like this mocking Table Gun Lamp by Philippe Starck for Flos ($1,748). It's also quite luxurious, made from die-cast aluminum with a gold-plated finish.

I think it looks tacky
I think thats the beauty of it... a little kitch never hurt anyone.. I love it!
HATE IT! I don't like guns
I like it but way too expensive for a lamp!
I think this is just promoting that violence is now in style. Children will think that it's normal to see guns as part of the decor? If or when they find a real gun in daddy's closet (who happens to be a cop or have a permit, I'll assume) it will have no meaning to them as a potential deadly weapon, but rather a decoration? I don't get this at all -- it's a moral outrage!
Nope I do not like it. I agree it is cheap and tacky looking.
I love target practice, but I believe guns belong out of sight.
at nearly two grand, that's WAY too expensive. however, it fits with the indie vibe of my house perfectly!
Too much violence in this world as it is... I do not need to decorate my intimate "safe" places with it!
Enough with the violence already! It looks like a $2000, hot tacky lamp-of-a-mess!!!!!!! I would never put something like this in my home and call it decor, especially around my children.
this is wrong on all levels
im definitely not a gun person... especially incorporated into my home decor!!
I think it's hot and James Bondy
I would say provocative, not mocking, and in either case I don't like it. Guns are not glamorous, luxurious or decorative and they only function in one way. Frankly I find it confusing and if Philippe Starck was trying to make a political statement; it failed. I'm afraid this only gives a nod of blessing to the Hollywood stylized "gangsta" lifestyle so many kids see as being glamorous these days. I don't what people in other countries think. They may think it symbolizes war mongering Americans with so many riches they don't know what to do with. Since the designer is French I wonder what France thinks of it. Maybe I don't get it, maybe it's just a sign of the times and if Mr. Starck chose design as his weapon, maybe he did indeed hit the mark. However, me personally, I agree with Sugar member msdyanelk. One hot tacky lamp-of-a-mess!
Well for something I don't even like and would never consider having in my home I sure just spent 30 min of my life pondering what I wanted to say about it. hhh-mmm
Philippe Starck has done some incredible work, but this isn't my idea of one of them! Too Goldfinger for my taste!
i think this is a good joke. If I saw this in someone's house, I'd laugh.
it's tacky.
I like the shade, hate the lamp
tacky
I have to give this a big nope.
I think this idea could have been executed much better.
I agree with littlemissme. not a big gun person.
not a gun person. i wouldn't want that in my home.
Very tacky.
hate it.
Tacky, and in poor taste. Violence is NEVER stylish!
What I believe Philip Starck could have been trying to do here was make a different purpose for something that is generally used as violence. Light is generally an archetype for something good or even heavenly. There is an irony, and below some words are reading "_____ is a hot gun." Curious to read the whole message on the lampstand, but all in all, this look is over, adhocing as a metaphor is over. It could be nice for a child to grow up thinking that's the only thing a gun is for, to hold light. Unfortunately, it won't be in our lifetime. Not into this at all.
Hate it. Its ugly and weird.
Well I have respect for someone who turns a gun in to something that can be a conversation piece as opposed to using it to get whatever it is he/she wants and vice versa. I agree with tralala.
Cool for some, not my style.
It's waaaaaayyy too expensive...but as a conversation piece...it's a yes.
ick...maybe if you are a GANGSTER!!! sorry....just HATE it!
I love it!
$1,748 is VERY expensive for a lamp, but I think it looks pretty cool!
Taaaaaccckkkky!
I actually like this lamp. I have seen something similar at Urban Outfitters and it would go quite well with their home furnishing "style".
I don't like guns, I hate it.
this would be fun for a bachelor's pad or a "man's room". i saw an article in ReadyMade Magazine about how to create one of these for waaaaay cheaper.
love it but dont know if I would buy it or not depends on where and to go with what
Definitely tacky looking.
love it!
lol....even though I dont see myself added this to my home decor I could so see my boyfriend having this in his office....
Lol amassa,.... i was thinking hmmm maybe in a guys pool room or something... its very 007
Love it! One obviously has to have a sense of humor to appreciate it
No.
One word: NO
.
I normally like philip stark's look but this for me is a no-no.
Guns are not toys, nor decoration, they are waepons to be used when and when extremely needed.
I am totally ok with not having a sense of humor about this and not finding it funny, becuase to me it is totally not.
I really love this lamp but not for the reasons it would seem. It's more of a political statement piece about gun control.
I think the design could of been a lot better, not to mention the price!
