Some people love decorating with framed photos of family and friends, while other people think it's declassé. What's your take?

I don't decorate with personal photos at all, mainly because the only photos I take anymore are on my phone. I think they could look good if done properly though- I like the way they're displayed in the photo above.
1I have tons of personal photos around my apartment right now, but I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that I'm still in school and can't afford to invest in "real" art!
2I think a few here and there are nice. Especially if they're black and white or sepia!
3I love to make photo collections in B/W with generations of my partner's and my family!
4i like a good ol' fashion family wall
5I think it depends on the photos and how the person decorates their rooms. Bottom line: it's however it makes that person feel calm and welcomed into their home.
6yes i love decorating with photos
7I pretty much only have them on my fridge and the walls have artwork. I wouldn't mind putting a few up here and there.
8I do!
9I have some gorgeous photos I took while in Europe and Fiji and they look perfect as art around my house.
i have photos everywhere....they remind me of the people in my life that mean the most to me!!
10I love decorating with personal photos, although I do like to space them out!
11I sometimes have one or two personal photos, ie I took the picture myself but it's landscape pics. For some reason I feel v uncomfortable having people's faces on my walls, unless it's a nice art poster (I have one of Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany's and I looove it).
12I'm planning on making a (reasonably) large collage of friends pictures for my future room, but that's mainly because I met a lot of really good friends this year and they are now all around the globe, so it's really a sentimental reason.
yeah, i'm pretty much a personal photo wh*re! hee hee! we might have too many actually! oh well, i LOVE pictures!
13OOOPS, SORRY...DIDNT KNOW...EEEEK! SORRY IF OFFENSE WAS TAKEN...DIDNT MEAN IT THAT WAY! WINK WINK!
(IN RE: TO ABOVE!)
14I thought it was tacky honestly, until I became an aunt. And somehow, mysteriously enough pictures of my neice has crept into the house.
15Yes and I like to space them out throughout the house. Most of them are on my staircase heading up to the second floor and highlight family, friends, travels, animals.
Otherwise, downstairs I hang mostly art on the walls. 'Tho there are personal photos on the mantel.
I love how personal photos add individuality to a home.
16I've bought a few frames and I've been filling them with personal photos. I like that homey, personalized touch they bring - and all the great memories they bring back!
17I love and use personal photos in my house although I do space them out, clusters here, one or two there. They make me smile
18We got married 2 years ago so we have a bunch of wedding pictures up. Mostly just in the dinning room, and rest are art.
19LadyP I love your avatar! ADORABLE!
I use personal photos all of the time throughout my
house, but I like to use different frames with the room themes and I space them out.
20Except in the bedroom, photos are every where. I know every time my husband and I entertain and some one new is in our home they become an icebreaker.
21I lurve photos! They tell a thousand stories. I don't like for them to be EVERYWHERE, like the bedroom photo, though.
22Awwwww, that room is...charming! Not my personal style though.
23I love photos although since I got my digital camera I'm terrible at actually printing them. But I always display some photos. Like ccsugar I especially love black and white or sepia.
24At the moment, there is only one photo of my husband and I in a really tacky frame, and two pictures of my late father. My husband doesn't really care for personal photos being out, but I love them.
I have to have the ones of my Dad out and he respects that. There is this great picture of him at getting ready for Stampede when he was healthy and happy. It is my favourite photo of him.
I've also got tons of photo albums on my coffee table. I can't wait to get my wedding photos back so I can fill them up some more!
25I love having family photos around. I have two young children who get to know and remember realtives we don't see much. I can't having them forgetting my in laws now can I!
26in that picture there are way too many! I think a couple here and there or like 3-4 in a nice design wave looks awesome!
27I don't like smothering my walls with pictures, but I like having a few pictures around. I still need a sense of privacy and anonymity even within my own living space.
28Love the photo featured here
29I'm a photographer... I don't decorate with anything I HAVEN'T taken!
30I love photography and art in general so you can expect to find pictures in my home. By the way, why would it be declassé to have personal pictures in your home? That doesn't even make sense to me.
31U have 2 use personal photos! Lol
32I like to space them around our apartment.
33I get really irritated when designers say it's tacky to display pictures of loved ones. Hello--it's a HOME, not a magazine spread. Reminders of loved ones (when well-taken and well-framed) are beautiful and really make a house feel like a home. Over-designed showrooms feel cold and impersonal. (Obviously I'm a little passionate about this!)
34i have tons of personal photos up
35i love mixing personal photos in with other photos and decor, i just wish i had more black and white personal photos bc i think they look better like that on walls
36We live far from our families and I feel that havnig photos of our loved ones is important. Friends and family are Very important to us and I like to remember them. The fun moments, te trips, the love. I want to look around a room and smile with memories. Like someone up there said, it's not a magazine spread. I just want to be happy in my home. No need to please anyone else right?!
37My family is scattered all around the country so photos help take their place, when I'm missing them. I like to mix it up with different types of frames, all sizes, shapes and colors, so I do think of the photos as art. And (bragging just a little) I have a pretty photogenic family, and it's fun to look at them, especially the kids as they grow up!
38I think this a cool idea and would like to try it.
39usually - i have a few up in my living room in frames and 1 or 2 in my room, but not a lot, generally.
40I love taking pictures and use them for decorating. I also use fashion ads, and other random things, but I think it makes the space more personalized and not just something generic from a magazine
