Though I prefer to use cloth tote bags instead of plastic grocery bags, it always feels hypocritical to then fill those fabric totes with plastic produce bags. But until recently, the free plastic baggies were the only way to protect your fruit and keep your veggies from getting battered.
Today, however, I was excited to discover these Eco Bags Reuseable Produce Bags. The set of four bags ($14) includes two lightweight produce bags and two net sacks made from organic cotton. Not only will they cut down on landfill waste, but the eco bags are also washable, so you don't have to worry about them getting too grimy over time.

i was in taiwan not too long ago and they've started making ppl pay for plastic bags. it's anything ridiculous but i think that it's helping ppl remember to bring in totes/bags for their goods. if we started something like that in america....man, we'd make such a difference!!
1We have to pay for our plastic grocery bags at Superstore in Canada. They sell reusable bags as well, so we got a bunch of those. The trick is remembering them though!

12I have the eco bags that are net in the organic cotton and I love, love, love them. They are a little pricey but I looked around for a long time and couldn't find anything close to the eco bag. I got the small ones and everything I buy fits into them unless I want something like 2 dozen apples.....lol
13Besides Taiwan, paying for plastic bags is also required in some European countries. It really makes people think twice about blindly accepting a bag for just a few little things and helps cut down on waste.
Plus, these plastic bags in water looks like food to our favorite sea animals, and that's how a lot of them end up choking and dying.

16Delight.com has so many cool things. I bet if you're a handy sewer you can make your own cheaper though. They also have Envirosax Delightfully Pretty Reusable Grocery Bags, but they're really expensive at 34.50 but I guess it's how you look at it. For the convenience and use over the long haul.

17what a fantastic idea - but how many of us actually remember to grab that stuff before we do the shopping? I can just imagine myself buying 3 packets of these bags -- and then totally forgetting to ever use them. D'oh!
