Named for the Adirondack Mountains in New York where it was invented, these outdoor chairs are made from slatted wood with wide armrests ideal for resting drinks. A traditional Adirondack has a seat that slopes down in the back, presumably to make it more comfortable while sitting on hillsides.
The original Adirondack chair was designed by Thomas Lee in 1903 while he was vacationing at his Summer home. Nowadays, the chairs often come with matching footstools and can be made with vinyl or other synthetic materials.

I have a couple of these and they are very comfortable. I love having them on the deck and relaxing in them!
1I love adirondack chairs with ottomans. In fact, I wish I had two in the back patio area painted in a bright color. They remind me of vacation!
2I saw a couple of Adirondack chairs last week on a farm upstate and reminded me of how much I love relaxing in them. Perfect by a lake or for sitting in and pretending you're lakeside.
3so comfy. i have seen beach morphed bersions of these for sale...painted bright colors...so pretty!
4I once called YumJimmy on the way home from an event, I was trying to say this word, and he totally thought I was driving drunk — which I was not, I was totally sober! You have to admit, it's an awkward word to say.
5They remind me of the Muskoka chairs around here. They're a little different, but I'm sure just as great to get comfy on while at a cottage.
6Exactly what I was thinking jhuck!
7i heart these
