There's something so old-fashioned about cooling off with a portable fan, so why not get one with a cool retro look? With the heat wave that's now scorching several states — not to mention back-to-school shopping for dorm dwellers — I've rounded up three stylish vintage-looking fans for tight budgets and total splurges.
Good: I love the dark chrome finish on this Aloha Credenza Fan in Polished Nickel ($19.99), and you can't beat the price.
Two even better fans, so read more
Better: The old-school oscillating fan gets a chic coat of paint: the Vivre Selection Cool Breeze Fan ($75) comes in bright blue or funky orange.
Best: The one I'm really craving is the VornadoFan 60th Anniversary Special Edition Retro Table Fan ($99.99). It's display worthy looks and incredibly soft whir make it well worth the price.

Wow! I remember growing up using a fan like these! It wasn't as retro as these are but still. And I still get a kick out of say 'Ahhhhhhhh' right in front of a retro fan and hear that cool sound it makes! LOL! Am I alone on this? hahaha...
1Oooooooh Casa! I love you for this post. I have been looking for a retro-styled fan and haven't had any luck scoring vintage. How did you know? Big rock star points for you.
2Love the middle ones! The splash of color is great.
3loves it!!!!
4$20.00? I LOVE Target! I'm sooo going to go get this one!
5love this old fashion look.
6Don't buy that first fan by Aloha Breeze from Walmart. I did and it sounded like a lawn mover on the low setting and GOT WORSE as you went from med to high. It is pretty but a total waste of money!
7Great fan for the price!
8i have something like the "best" one - it was about 70$ and so worth it! it pushes much more air than the standard oscillating fan and is just so well made and sturdy! i bought a cheaper oscillating fan afterwards and it already broke
9Beautiful, classic, awesome.
10Mama like! How CUTE would one of those be, in pink? OooOoo!!
11These are too cute for my office!
12AWESOME!
13I only like good and better, best just doesn't do it for me.
14i baulk at the price tag, but i love the final/best option. love it.
15I can't believe this post; I JUST purchased a retro fan for my desk at work. Bed, Bath, and Beyond sells a Hunter fan that is really attractive. It's chrome, almost silent and has garnered a ton of compliments since I brought it in last week. $60.
