I love to see how people repurpose old furniture, and today's Su Casa is impressive. CasaSugar reader Michelin found this chair on the side of the road, and after making sure the springs and cushions were in good condition, she took it to be reupholstered with fabrics she bought on sale. According to Michelin: "With some luck and a little over $300, I got a one of a kind chair that fits my personality perfectly." Here's what the chair looked like before:

Here's the remade chair, recovered in light blue and green velvet. Says Michelin: "The green is actually brighter than it looks in this picture, it's almost a citrus color."

You did a great job
1Wow! Thats really cool! I would love to learn to redo furniture. You can do such cool stuff with it. Looks GREAT! Good Job!
2My sister did this to a chair she found in NYC at a thrift shop. She upolstered it in a bright purple (mostly, it's still not finished) and then moved to London. When she moved she left me this chair and it sits unused in my basement. Tragic.
3Wow! That is so fun!!!
4Wow - great work - I would love to be able to do that, but I think that I wouldn't actaully finish the project unless I was under pressure
5I just pulled a chair from my neighbor's curb! I'm going to have it reupholstered in gray velvet or flannel with white painted trim (it's got wooden arms & legs).
6Way to go.
7Very Cool! I reupholstered an old chair that was my Dad's favorite. Hated the way the chair turned out, but I took the old vinyl from the chair and made it into a uber cool/retro purse for my mom. It still looks like the chair, but now has a more pratical purpose as a handbag.
8Wow! Looks great!
9I think it's great, but I seriously worry about how dirty it is!
You don't know
where it's been!! Hee hee!
10WOW! Great job, I love the "new" chair!
11i love!
i keep reading about reupholstering old chairs. i have one that my grandfather had--which is how i remember him. sitting in that chair. and i am ashamed to admit it, i did not take care of it. it's become the cats chair in more ways than one--if you know what i mean...
not to mention it is not the most flattering color--orange (almost disco inspired) that looks like wide corduroy. i've been debating on whether to just get rid of it, or try and salvage it.
12BEAUTIFUL!
13It turned out really cute!
14Great job!
15Gorgeous chair! Great job!
16I never find furntiure on the side of the road!
17Wow- great job. I know reupholstering can be so expensive. I hope the chair was really cheap in the first place and still in decent shape. I love the new colors!
18Love to do this, but this is REALLY well done! Very chic!
19would love to try this sometime in the future. great job!
20Great job!!
21Excellent! I'm totally inspired!
22i always think about recovering things but never get around to it - you did such a good job!
23What a transformation! I have a vintage daybed I've been wanting to get reupholstered, anyone have any tips?
24Looks great!
25Nicely done. Recycling is the thing to do.
