These Manhole Cover Floor Mats at Flax Art and Design ($27.95) cleverly echo the designs of city sewer covers, with versions available for London, Paris, and New York. I don't think I'd want one in my house, but the indoor/outdoor rugs would look cute on a porch. What do you think?

horrible - I don't want my guests to think of the sewer while at my house
I'm not really sure what motif these would go with... though they are really neat.
I'm weird like that. I'd put this as a kitchen mat or outside. I'm not afriad to admit it, I live in a run-down part of Brooklyn, NY.
Yeah I could see this in the city, like NY... not sure if it'd be good for suburbia.
Really ugly
It would be cute outside the house.
That is terrible looking. Who on earth would want that!?
Cute idea! I think it would work on the porch or as a doormat outside the door.
I have friends that just moved from New Orleans, a city that they love dearly. They're in NC now, and they definitely have one of these in the New Orleans style outside their front door, and they love it...theirs are actually much more intricate than the ones pictured, and it makes their new house feel a little more like home.
Ummm in a word no. Door Mats shouldbe simple and to the point Welcome should be the most that is written on there.
No thanks.
I would not want one in my house, but I could see attaching straps to two of them (so that they can be worn as a sandwich board) and using it as a costume for my kids. I think that would be funny.
I think it would look good in a bathroom or a kid's room.
I could use this in my office...my company builds wastewater treatment plants!
my hubby misses nyc alot - I think this would be cute but hard to make into something I would also enjoy. OH! but there are those NYC subway shower curtains, maybe it could be a cool themed bathroom at some point.
Super super cute! No idea where to put one though!
No thanks!
they're interesting, but i wouldn't want a reminder of a swer in my home!
i hate these.
but it would work if you were decorating a kid's room in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."
Didn't the turtles always come out of the sewers?
They also make them for the Washington DC Metro subway sidewalk covers. I bought one for my father and it serves as the back door mat -- he loves it. But then again, he is in charge of mass transit for the entire northeast, so of course he loves subways.
Hate it, I would only use it for a very themed room.
I have to give it an A for creativity, but I would never use them.
Don't like it at all!
Hate them
I hate these!
i think they're cute - as long as they're outside.
Love them! Very Unique!!
I think the "Sewer" mat would go great in my teenage son's room -- especially since he was a huge Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle's fan when he was little.
The Paris manhole cover rug actually has a pretty design. I think it would be perfect for a washroom or even my kitchen door that leads into the garage.
Granted, it's not exactly my idea of a living room or bedroom rug, but I think either would be super in a dormitory or young man's apartment.
where do people come up with these things? i would hate to know what his/her inspiration was!
Lame!
I'd also do the kitchen or outside and I live in the Bronx.
I don't like it, myself.
Totally unattractive, I'm almost offended.
i also think these'd be nice outside!
They should make one for New Orleans! The New Orleans water covers are really attractive, with stars on them. People steal them because they're so intricate and actually like a piece of artwork!
I like this, but not sure if I would ever buy it or use it.
I'm undecided. They are kinda cute and interesting but on the other hand very silly.
I like them. I don't really think "sewer" when I see manhole covers(even though I know that's what they're for, it's not what comes to mind), just "street" and "industrial."
I have a room hung with pictures of stencil graffiti I took in Europe. I think a rug version (not a welcome mat outdoor material version) might look good in there. The room is softened a bit with overstuffed leather chairs but if I had these I might need to do a little more balancing - or give up let the whole room go modern/industrial.
Certainly these would be a conversation piece. And I don't think they will become too common since a lot of people here clearly do not like them!
Great for outdoors.
My brother bought one for his apartment, it's cute with the urban-ecclectic feel his place has.
No way, not for me.
