I am smitten with this Jan Cowles-designed bedroom featured in the August issue of Domino. I love the color palette and the shag carpet, but it would be tough to recreate the look without those fly plastic chairs. Any ideas?

I keep expecting Austin Powers to jump out from behind one of those chairs shouting "groooovy baby!!"
Here we go:
Much better than those plastic things.
I didn't like this when I saw it in Domino, and I don't like it now either.
I love the plastic chairs. The room would not be the same without them.
Not my type---too 70's , too bland walls and the carpet is mustard yellow which I hate
I would have to say that the vintage shag rug and the futuristic plastic chairs just did not hit home with this room.
I think this room is fabulous and it has worn well. This was designed in 1971. I think that giant (and I mean GIANT) white cushions or cushion blocks or even a HUGE white beanbags would work. I believe it was designed for a young person. It certainly has a young feel.
total rockout
i think this is just absolutely adorable for a kid's room, but just not as groovy for an adult.
too retro for me.
Bean bags would keep it on the cheap and still keep the retro feel.
cute
that looks so cozy! i love the feel of fluffy carpet under my feet. too bad it is so hard to really clean shag.
It's an interesting look. I think it would be cute for a teens room. I'd probably take out a few of the items in order to make it work better.
