A slipcover is a removable fabric covering that provides a quick and easy way to reupholster a sofa, chair, or loveseat. Alternately very helpful and endlessly frustrating, slipcovers come in various forms to suit different needs and price points.
The most basic slipcovers are one-piece swaths of fabric that you secure to furniture with ties. However, you can get an even better fit with stretchy fabrics or multi-part slipcovers that allow you to cover the cushions, arms, and back separately.

Gross. Sorry guys... I have hated and will most likely always hate slipcovers. I have yet to see one that doesn't resemble a potato sack.
1I have a slip cover at home that is more trouble then it's worth. but it's cheaper than a new couch so I use it. I'm changing this month to a stretch one that will hopefully be less of a hassel.
2I always hated slip covers. My parents used to have them when I was younger and it was awful. Not only did they slip off all the time, but they didn't match (which is another story lol). However, I really like the one in this post, casasugar. It actually looks nice.
3What a coincidence--I'm going shopping later today for fabric to create my own. My sofa has a nontraditional modern t-line shape so I think it's my only route. Plus, I want to use a nice linen and I haven't seen any at surefit.com that I really dig except for a tweed one which they don't sell anymore (I saw the style for a armchair on the clearance page)...just my luck.
4I have yet to see a slipcover that looks good, they're all too obvious, which makes me think that they're trying to hide something...not a fan.
5not a fan either...
6They are only good when you can get one custom made for your chair or couch. My mom had a couch custom slipcovered and you would never know it's a slip cover because it fits so well. The couch was just too comfy to get rid of and she no longer like the fabric.
7My parents used to have them to cover old furniture. After constantly re-arranging them, I learned to loathe them!
8I agree with everyone above me, I can't seem to see any slip cover that screams "I can't afford a new couch so I threw a sheet with ties over this old piece of ___." LOL
9I *HATE* slipcovers. And I totally agree with pinupsweetheart.
10You guys dont know what you are talking about!!! Unless you are referring to the cookie cutter type of slipcovers you get in a package--who wants that!!!! Slipcovers are the hotTest thing especially Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic sofas. When you have taste it shows!!!
