I grew up with a kitchen table, but as an adult with a galley kitchen, there's no room for such a big piece of furniture. This pretty, white kitchen is making me covet one, though.

I'm with you Casa, that kitchen is lovely and it makes me want a kitchen table too!
I grew up with one we had an eat in kitchen no dining room in the house. But all the houses I've lived in since have had dining rooms (oh save for one house). The house we're in now the kitchen is tiny. We have an island in the kitchen - why it was built with one is beyond me, it's such an eyesore in the tiny kitchen and just gets in the way.
I would love to have room for one! i have this small ushaped kitchen
I have one and it fits pretty well at the end of my apartment kitchen, but my ex and I got it at Ikea and it's not at all interesting, so I would like to get a new one. Actually, an antique that I can redo.
dm8bri that would be fun!!! I'd love to do that too!
Yes, I do. It is a on old wood picnic(separate benches) table I got from craigslist for $20.
We have the Saarinen-esque Ikea DOCKSTA gracing our kitchen.
We have a duplexed condo, and the top floor has an open living/dining/kitchen area. We have a bar with room for 2 stools and a wood table. It's not an eat-in kitchen like this one but it kind of works the same way. I love it because I do a lot of cooking so it allows me to cook and hang out with my family & guests at the same time.
I have never lived in a house that had a kitchen with space allocated for a table. My grandparents both have houses like that and I always liked sitting at the table and watching them cook. If I had an eat-in kitchen, I would totally get a retro formica topped table.
I live in a little studio loft without a dining room, and so the dining table is basically in the kitchen-corner. Does that count?
No room! My house is so small, but I love the location so I always persuade my family not to move whenever they're thinking of it.
not in NYC, no room!
The nice answer
What necessary words... super, an excellent phrase
