Growing up, I always enjoyed gazing at the map in my father's office and dreaming of all the places I'd one day visit. Like in this home, he also had a habit of pinpointing the locations he'd traveled to. While it certainly served as a logbook of sorts, it also had a beautiful visual effect — and also an ever-changing one. Do you decorate with maps?

We have a large map of the US mounted on foamboard and framed in our sitting room and we track all the cities/states we've visited on it. It sits above the credenza that has all of the bowls we collect from our travels.
1i haven't ever thought about it....
2it looks great in this room.
but i definitely think as just a decoration tool it depends on the room.
kimpossible- that sounds like a really fun thing to do!!
We have large map of the world over our couch. The good thing about maps is they tend to be of a neutral palate, which makes them easy to put anywhere!
3I LOVE decorating with maps. There's a cozy corner in my apartment right by the bedrooms, where I have a map of New York (where I live now), New Orleans (where both of my room mates and I have lived before), and Louisville (where I grew up-- i tend to do all the decorating, though one day i hope to add Chicago suburb and small-town Arkansas maps for the two of them). We have thumb tacks in all of the places we've lived before.... the Louisville map is pretty bare.
4I want to do this in my son's room at some point. So we can start to mark off the places we go .....
5We have a wallpaper map of the world in our office. I love it.
6I really like how maps look hung up in homes.
7My parents had a large world map over the couch in the tv-room in their old house. Granted, it was from the early 80s, so the world changed a bit from what the map looked like, but it was a great way for us kids to learn about the position of different countries all over the world.
8Not my thing.
9I've never really understood it. I guess if it's done well it can look good, but I've never seen it done well.
10I've actually been on the hunt for an old antique print of my own city. I think it would be fabulous hanging on a wall. so many of the old, old maps were very artistic. I would only want an old one that looked interesting, not a modern map. I guess in the right space a modern map could look cool too, but not for me.
11and teh pillow is a map of a subway soo cool ... i will try to buy a map for my bedroom
12I would like one and mark every place I've been to. Or is that too bourgeois? lol
13I live in an apartment and didn't want to worry about the hassle of painting the bedroom. (I also couldn't quite decide on a color!) So I hung a large world map from IKEA over the bed, which covered the wall in beautiful blues, greens and browns.
14I love this idea. It is something I have always wanted to do. I've researched wall stickers, wall paper but I haven't found anything similar to the one in the above picture. Where did you purchase it?
