Back in the days of my clunky Macintosh 128K, a light and slender desk like the Crate & Barrel Sloane Leaning Desk ($99, reduced from $199) would simply not fly. But, seeing as so many of us are equipped with oh-so petite MacBooks these days, it's an ideal desk for a home office — especially if you live in a studio. Granted, with only two fixed shelves, it offers little in the way of storage. But, isn't that what our external hard drives are for? I'd also like to give C&B a pat on the back for the renewable solid bamboo and bamboo veneer construction of this design. What do you think?

This could'nt be more perfect. Just moved into a new place and desperately need a desk but was loathing going to ikea for one (ikeas all i can afford at the moment). This is beyond ideal for me.
1Thankyou casa sugar!
Great!! I'm so happy I could help!
2I like it. Minimal, elegant, and functional. Good design.
3My friends have this desk and some of the matching leaning shelves, and it looks very sleek in their living room. I've been ogling one for myself, and it just might be time to jump on that!
4Hmmmm I'm on the fence.
5I like it but don't feel it's practical for a student like me. Where would I set my book(s)? I
the bamboo material though!
6Just like Buzz I've been wanting the leaning ladder desk and the shelves that go with it from Crate and Barrel. I might have to invest in that now.
7Hmm... this is an interesting concept from Crate and Barrel. It certainly would be great for a small space, but I agree with littlemzfit- I have far too many things to fit on this tiny desk!
Great option and price though for tight spaces.
8I bought this a few years back in a dark brown finish . . . unfortunately, I had to pay full price. I also have the leaning shelves as well. I love the set as it doesn't take up much space in my apartment.
9I have the dark brown Sloane Leaning Media Stand with the bookshelves on either side. It was a B*TCH to assemble. It took about four days and countless "thank yous" to my brother-in-law who helped me put it together. I felt like calling C&B to complain about the amount of manpower and time needed to assemble. Definitely a pain in the butt.
It looks great now, but buyer beware.
10$15 at Home Depot, and you can make this yourself. Absurdly easy. You could use a handsaw.
11wow as fate would have it, this beautiful piece just popped into my life right when I needed it! I'm apartment hunting and I realize it's going to be small so this is just right.
