Casa Verde: The Park Lane Guest House
On Nov. 12, 2008, in the early morning hours,
Park Lane Guest House was consumed by fire. Out of this tragedy, an even lovelier and more
eco guest house was born. The owner, Shakti, a former restoration carpenter, outfitted the home with beautiful new and salvaged design elements and energy-efficient upgrades. These elements increased the home's efficiency while honoring the historic nature of the home and the Austin, TX, neighborhood. Most impressively, the guest house re-opened a short three months later, on Valentine's Day weekend. The guest house, which is made up of a main home and three separate smaller buildings, is now celebrating its formal grand opening.
